Seeliger (crater)

Seeliger is a lunar impact crater that lies on the eastern shore of the Sinus Medii, near the center of the Moon. It is located to the northwest of the larger crater Triesnecker and to the east of the small, bowl-shaped crater Bruce.

The rim of Seeliger is generally circular, with slight outward bulges to the northeast and southwest. The inner walls slope down to a relatively flat interior floor that is marked only by a few tiny craterlets. The crater lacks a central peak. The surrounding lunar mare surface is marked by a faint ray system that is likely associated with the nearby Triesnecker crater.

The crater is named after the German astronomer Hugo von Seeliger.
