George Green (baseball)
George Green (born August 24, 1994) is an American professional baseball pitcher.
Green attended Prosper High School in Prosper, Texas. He was drafted by the New York Yankees in the first round, 25th overall, of the 2011 Major League Baseball draft. He signed with the Yankees for a $1.825 million signing bonus, foregoing his commitment to play college baseball at Texas A&M University.
Green began his professional career with the Gulf Coast League Yankees in 2011. In 2013, while playing for the Charleston RiverDogs, he suffered an elbow injury that required Tommy John surgery. He returned to the RiverDogs in 2015. In 2016, he pitched for the Tampa Yankees and the Trenton Thunder.
Green was traded to the Texas Rangers organization in 2017. He has since pitched in their minor league system. His career has been marked by struggles with control and consistency despite possessing a fastball that can reach high velocities.
