SS Grete
SS Grete was a German cargo ship built in 1921 by Joh. C. Tecklenborg in Geestemünde, Germany. She operated primarily in the Baltic Sea and North Sea, transporting various goods including timber, coal, and general cargo. Details about her specific ownership changed hands over the years, operating under different German shipping companies.
The Grete met her demise during World War II. She was sunk on October 27, 1942, near Lista, Norway, after being torpedoed by the British submarine HMS Tribune. The circumstances of the sinking and the number of casualties are generally known, but precise records may be incomplete due to wartime conditions.
