John Morse (British politician)
John Morse (born 27 January 1921, died 23 March 2007) was a British Labour Party politician. He served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for North Portsmouth from 1966 to 1970.
Born in Portsmouth, Morse was educated at Portsmouth Northern Secondary School and later worked as an electrical fitter at Portsmouth Dockyard. He was a local councillor in Portsmouth, serving on the city council for many years.
In the 1966 general election, Morse successfully contested the North Portsmouth constituency, overturning a Conservative majority. He served a single term in Parliament, during which time he contributed to debates on issues relating to shipbuilding and the dockyards, reflecting his background.
He lost his seat to the Conservative candidate, Peter Griffiths, in the 1970 general election. After his parliamentary career, Morse remained active in local politics and community affairs in Portsmouth. His contributions focused on issues such as housing and employment for working-class families in the Portsmouth area.
