Butler station (MBTA)
Butler Station is a light rail station on the MBTA Green Line "B" Branch, located in Boston, Massachusetts. It is situated in the Brighton neighborhood, on Commonwealth Avenue at Pleasant Street.
Butler Station consists of two side platforms serving the two tracks of the "B" Branch. The station is primarily a surface-level stop, allowing for easy access from Commonwealth Avenue. Like many surface stops on the Green Line, Butler Station lacks fare gates or turnstiles; passengers are expected to pay their fares using CharlieCards or CharlieTickets onboard the train, or via the mobile app.
The station provides local service to residents and businesses in the surrounding area. Its location on Commonwealth Avenue makes it a convenient transportation option for students attending Boston University, as it is within walking distance of the school's campus.
Butler Station is not currently accessible to passengers with disabilities. The MBTA is undertaking system-wide accessibility improvements, but specific plans for Butler Station are subject to funding and prioritization.
The station operates throughout the day and evening, providing regular service on the "B" Branch between Boston College and downtown Boston. Service frequency varies depending on the time of day, with more frequent service during peak commuting hours.
