Rump Shaker (album)
Rump Shaker is the debut album by American hip hop group Wreckx-N-Effect, released in 1992 on MCA Records. The album is most notable for its lead single, also titled "Rump Shaker," which reached number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The album's sound is characterized by its heavy bass, sexually suggestive lyrics, and the use of the "high-pitched squeal" sound effect prominently featured in "Rump Shaker." Production was primarily handled by Teddy Riley and his production team.
While "Rump Shaker" was the album's biggest commercial success, other tracks include "Wreckx Shop," "Hard," and "My Cutie." Rump Shaker as a whole is generally considered a significant work within the New Jack Swing subgenre of hip hop and R&B. It achieved platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
