Skaun (village)

Skaun is a village in Skaun municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is the administrative centre of the municipality. The village is located along the river Skaunelva, about 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) southwest of the village of Eggkleiva and about 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) northeast of the village of Børsa.

Skaun Church is located in the village. The economy of the village is largely based on agriculture and services related to the surrounding agricultural areas.

Historically, the area of Skaun was an important location in the early Viking Age. The name "Skaun" is believed to be derived from the Old Norse word "skaun," meaning "slope" or "hillside."
