Peter Elliott (bishop)

Peter Elliott is an Australian Roman Catholic bishop. He currently serves as an Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Melbourne.

Born in Melbourne, Australia, Elliott was ordained a priest in 1973. He holds a doctorate in sacred theology from the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome. Prior to his appointment as bishop, he held various academic and pastoral positions, including teaching theology at the John Paul II Institute for Marriage and Family in Melbourne. He is known for his work on liturgical theology and his writings on the Second Vatican Council. He was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Melbourne in 2007 and consecrated on February 10, 2007. He has been actively involved in various commissions and organizations within the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference. His episcopal responsibilities in Melbourne include oversight of specific geographical areas and assisting the Archbishop in the pastoral care of the archdiocese.
