Ruffian (film)

Ruffian is a 2007 American made-for-television biographical sports drama film directed by Yves Simoneau. It tells the story of the champion thoroughbred racehorse Ruffian, who tragically broke down during a match race against Kentucky Derby winner Foolish Pleasure in 1975. The film focuses on the horse's life, from her early training and undefeated streak to the events leading up to and including her fatal injury. It explores the relationships between Ruffian, her jockey Jacinto Vasquez, and her trainer Frank Whiteley Jr., as well as the intense media and public attention surrounding her career.
