Robert Gillies (Australian politician)

Robert Gillies (born 19 September 1946) is a former Australian politician who served as a Labor Party member of the Victorian Legislative Council for Western Province from 1996 to 2006.

Gillies was born in Melbourne. Prior to entering parliament, he worked as a teacher. His political interests centered on education and regional development.

During his time in the Legislative Council, he held positions on various committees, including the Scrutiny of Acts and Regulations Committee. He was actively involved in debates concerning rural and agricultural issues, reflecting the interests of his Western Province electorate. He retired from parliament in 2006.
