Richard Lewis (priest)
Richard Lewis (born 1942) is a Welsh Anglican priest and academic. He served as the Bishop of St David's in the Church in Wales from 2008 to 2017.
Lewis studied at St David's College, Lampeter, and Ripon College Cuddesdon, Oxford, before being ordained as a priest in 1968. He served in various parishes in the Diocese of Llandaff before becoming Warden of St Michael's College, Llandaff, a theological college, in 1998. He held that position until his election as Bishop of St David's in 2008.
During his time as Bishop of St David's, Lewis focused on issues of social justice and rural poverty. He also emphasized the importance of Welsh language and culture within the diocese. He retired as Bishop of St David's in 2017. Following his retirement, he has remained active in theological and social commentary.
