Ranheim
Ranheim is a borough of the city of Trondheim in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located east of the city centre, along the Trondheimsfjord. Historically, Ranheim was a separate village and municipality.
History:
Ranheim was established as a municipality on 1 January 1922 when it was separated from Strinda municipality. On 1 January 1964, Ranheim municipality was merged into Trondheim municipality.
Geography:
Ranheim is situated on the eastern outskirts of Trondheim, bordering the Trondheimsfjord. The area is largely residential and industrial.
Industry:
Ranheim has a history as an industrial area, notably with the Ranheim Paper Mill, which was a significant employer in the region for many years. While the paper mill is no longer in operation, other industries are present in the area.
Sports:
Ranheim is known for its football club, Ranheim Fotball, which has played in the Norwegian top division (Eliteserien).
Transportation:
Ranheim is well-connected to Trondheim and other areas by road and public transportation, including buses. The Nordlandsbanen railway line also passes through Ranheim, with a railway station serving the area.
