Manga (band)

Manga is a Turkish rock band, known for their fusion of Anatolian melodies with hard rock, heavy metal, and electronic elements. Formed in Ankara in 2001, the band gained widespread popularity after winning the Live Music Competition "Sing Your Song" (Sing Your Song) in 2002.

The band's name, "Manga," is a Turkish spelling of the Japanese word "manga," referring to comics and animation. This alludes to their diverse musical influences and stylistic approach.

Manga's music typically incorporates elements of nu-metal, alternative rock, and hip-hop, alongside traditional Turkish instrumentation and vocal styles. Their lyrics often address themes of social issues, personal struggles, and the challenges faced by Turkish youth.

The band's lineup has remained relatively stable over the years, consisting of vocalist Ferman Akgül, guitarist Yağmur Sarıgül (Yamyam), bassist Cem Bahtiyar, drummer Özgür Can Öney, and DJ Efe Yılmaz.

Manga has released several successful albums, including Hayat Bu... (2004), Şehr-i Hüzün (2009), and Eksi Bir (2010). They represented Turkey in the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 with the song "We Could Be the Same," finishing in second place. This performance brought them international recognition and expanded their fanbase globally.

Manga continues to tour and release music, solidifying their position as one of Turkey's most prominent and influential rock bands. Their innovative blend of musical genres and socially conscious lyrics have resonated with audiences both in Turkey and abroad.
