Peter Macdonald (Australian politician)

Peter Macdonald (born 20 June 1941) is a former Australian politician. He served as a Liberal Party member of the New South Wales Legislative Council from 1972 to 1991.

Macdonald was educated at Sydney Grammar School and the University of Sydney, where he studied economics and law. Before entering politics, he worked as a barrister.

In the Legislative Council, Macdonald was a prominent figure on the right wing of the Liberal Party. He was known for his conservative social views and his advocacy for free market economics. He served on various committees, including the Standing Committee on State Development.

Following his retirement from parliament in 1991, Macdonald remained involved in public life, particularly in commentary on political and economic issues. He has been a frequent contributor to newspapers and other media outlets.
