Sakhuwani

Sakhuwani is a village development committee (VDC) located in Siraha District, Sagarmatha Zone, in southeastern Nepal. VDCs were the lowest level of local government administration in Nepal before the implementation of local levels under the new constitution.

Historically, Sakhuwani was a rural agricultural community, with the majority of the population involved in farming. The region is characterized by a predominantly flat terrain typical of the Terai plains. As a VDC, Sakhuwani was responsible for local governance, including managing local resources, infrastructure development (such as roads and irrigation), and implementing government programs related to health, education, and agriculture.

The administrative structure of the VDC included an elected chairperson and ward members. However, with the implementation of the new constitution and the establishment of municipalities and rural municipalities (Gaunpalikas), VDCs like Sakhuwani have been dissolved and their administrative functions integrated into the new local government structures. The exact current administrative jurisdiction and structure pertaining to the area formerly known as Sakhuwani VDC would need to be confirmed based on the most recent government gazette and local government restructuring details.
