Ferentina

Ferentina was a Roman goddess associated with springs and water, and more broadly, with the Latin League. She was particularly venerated in the area of Ferentinum, a Latin town located south of Rome. Her sacred grove, lucus Ferentinae, near Ferentinum, served as a meeting place for the Latin League, making her cult politically significant in addition to its religious function.

Historical sources, including Livy, attest to the importance of Ferentina in the deliberations and decisions of the Latin League. Meetings within her grove were crucial for political and military planning, highlighting her role as a symbol of Latin unity.

The precise nature of Ferentina's attributes and mythology is not fully clear from surviving evidence, as she doesn't feature prominently in extensive narratives. Her association with water sources suggests a connection to fertility and the life-giving properties of water, common in ancient Mediterranean religious traditions. The disintegration of the Latin League diminished the importance of her cult.
