Caribou (album)
Caribou is the eighth studio album by the British musician Dan Snaith, performing under the moniker Caribou. It was released on February 28, 2014, by City Slang and Merge Records.
The album's title is taken from the name of a recording studio in Nederland, Colorado, where Elton John recorded some of his early albums. Snaith has stated that the album was inspired by the birth of his daughter and a desire to create music that was both danceable and emotionally resonant.
Caribou features a blend of electronic music, psychedelia, and krautrock influences. Snaith incorporated live instrumentation, including his own drumming, alongside synthesizers and samples. Critical reception was largely positive, with many praising the album's intricate production, melodic structures, and emotional depth. It was also a commercial success, charting in several countries.
