Jim Fitzgerald (racing driver)
Jim Fitzgerald (born c. 1930s, died April 30, 1987) was an American race car driver. He was primarily known for his success in sports car racing, particularly in SCCA Trans-Am Series and IMSA GT Championship events during the 1970s and 1980s. Fitzgerald frequently raced Datsuns (later Nissans), often prepared and campaigned by Bob Sharp Racing. He was a multiple-time champion in the Trans-Am Series, winning the championship in 1976, 1979, 1980, and 1981 in the Category II class. He also achieved success in IMSA GTU competition, driving for Datsun/Nissan. Fitzgerald's consistent performance and driving skill made him a well-respected figure in American sports car racing during his career. He died of cancer at the age of 52.
