John Pearson (judge)
John Pearson (1822-1875) was an American jurist who served as a Justice of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania from 1868 to 1875. Born in Mercer County, Pennsylvania, he studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1844. He practiced law in Mercer and later in Dauphin County.
Pearson served as President Judge of the Twelfth Judicial District of Pennsylvania from 1856 until his elevation to the Supreme Court. He was known for his expertise in equity law and his thoroughness in legal analysis. His opinions as a Supreme Court Justice are recorded in the Pennsylvania State Reports for the relevant years.
He was a prominent figure in Pennsylvania legal circles during his career and respected for his knowledge of the law. He died in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
