Bow River (Kimberley region, Western Australia)

The Bow River is a river located in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. It rises near the Great Northern Highway, approximately 60 kilometres (37 miles) south-east of Halls Creek, and flows generally north, joining the Ord River near the town of Wyndham.

The river is ephemeral, typically flowing only during and after the wet season. Its catchment area experiences a tropical climate, with distinct wet and dry seasons. The river is significant for its contribution to the Ord River irrigation area and the overall water resources of the Kimberley region.

The Bow River's catchment is sparsely populated and largely undeveloped, with pastoral leases being the primary land use. The river and its surrounding area are of ecological importance, supporting various native flora and fauna. The river is named after Lionel Bow, a surveyor with the Western Australian Lands Department, who explored the area in 1895.
