Mount Dennis (Yoho)

Mount Dennis (Yoho) is a mountain located in Yoho National Park, British Columbia, Canada. It is part of the Wapta Icefield group of peaks and is situated near the border with Alberta. The mountain is named after Martin Wheeler Dennis, a railway surveyor and engineer who played a significant role in the development of transportation routes through the Canadian Rockies, particularly for the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR).

Mount Dennis is characterized by its rugged, glaciated terrain. Its prominence and location within Yoho National Park make it a notable landmark visible from various viewpoints along the Trans-Canada Highway. Access to the mountain is primarily for experienced mountaineers and requires appropriate skills, equipment, and permits from Parks Canada.

The geological composition of Mount Dennis is typical of the Canadian Rockies, consisting primarily of sedimentary rocks that were uplifted and folded during the formation of the mountains. These rocks often exhibit distinctive layering and formations due to the intense geological forces involved.
