John Read (New Zealand politician)

John Read was a New Zealand politician who served as a Member of Parliament for the National Party.

He represented the electorate of Birkenhead from 1972 to 1975, defeating the incumbent Allan McCready.

Read lost his seat to Ann Hercus of the Labour Party in the 1975 general election. After losing his seat, he served on the Waitemata Electric Power Board. Further information about his life, career prior to parliament, and activities after leaving politics is limited in publicly available sources.
