Tzrifin

Tzrifin was a large military base and logistics center located in central Israel, southeast of Tel Aviv and near the city of Rishon LeZion. Officially known as Base 101, it served as a central induction and training facility for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) for many years.

Primarily used as a point of initial processing for new recruits, Tzrifin was often the first experience many Israelis had with military life. Recruits would undergo initial medical examinations, administrative processing, and basic equipment distribution at the base. In addition to initial intake, Tzrifin housed various IDF units and training facilities.

Over time, parts of the Tzrifin base were gradually relocated to other sites as part of a larger IDF initiative to move military installations away from densely populated areas and improve logistical efficiency. As of the early 2020s, Tzrifin was being redeveloped into a civilian residential and commercial area. The name "Tzrifin" is retained as a place name, though the military base is substantially diminished or non-existent in its original form.
