Peter Kennedy (figure skater)
Peter Kennedy (born September 4, 1927, in Altoona, Pennsylvania, died July 27, 2014, in Palm Beach, Florida) was an American figure skater. He competed in pair skating with his sister, Karol Kennedy, and they were among the leading pair skaters in the world during the late 1940s and early 1950s.
The Kennedy siblings represented the United States at two Winter Olympic Games. At the 1948 Winter Olympics in St. Moritz, Switzerland, they placed sixth. At the 1952 Winter Olympics in Oslo, Norway, they won the silver medal.
Peter and Karol Kennedy were five-time U.S. National Champions in pair skating, winning the title consecutively from 1948 to 1952. They also won the silver medal at the 1950 World Figure Skating Championships and the gold medal at the 1951 World Figure Skating Championships.
After retiring from amateur competition, Peter Kennedy, along with his sister, toured professionally with the Ice Follies. He later worked in business. He was inducted into the United States Figure Skating Hall of Fame in 1991.
