Humshaugh

Humshaugh is a village and civil parish in Northumberland, England, situated approximately 4 miles (6.4 km) north-east of Hexham. It lies on the north bank of the River North Tyne.

The name Humshaugh is believed to derive from the Old English "Hums halh," meaning "Humm's nook" or "Humm's corner."

Historically, Humshaugh was a rural agricultural community. The village grew in the 19th century with the development of local quarrying and coal mining industries.
