Neil Brown (Australian politician)

Neil Brown, AO (born 22 May 1940) is an Australian former politician and barrister. He served as a Liberal Party member of the Australian House of Representatives for the division of Diamond Valley (later Menzies) from 1975 to 1991.

Brown held several ministerial portfolios during his parliamentary career. He served as Minister for Employment and Youth Affairs from 1980 to 1982, and as Minister for Communications in 1982 and 1983 in the Fraser Government. In the Howard Government, he served as Minister for Immigration and Ethnic Affairs from 1996 to 1997.

Before entering federal politics, Brown was a barrister. He was appointed a Queen's Counsel (QC) in 1979. After leaving parliament, he resumed his legal career.

Brown was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) in the 2013 Australia Day Honours for distinguished service to the Parliament of Australia, to legal practice, and to the community.
