The Zeros (English band)

The Zeros were an English punk rock band formed in 1976 in Newcastle upon Tyne. They are often considered part of the first wave of British punk. The band consisted of Steve "Zulu" Dennis on vocals, Paul Thompson (later of Roxy Music) on drums, Nigel Hardiman on bass, and Alan Brown on guitar.

The Zeros were known for their raw, energetic sound and politically charged lyrics, often dealing with issues of social alienation and unemployment prevalent in 1970s Britain. They released several singles and EPs, including "Hungry," "Radio Fun," and "Wild Child," which garnered them attention on the burgeoning punk scene.

Although they never achieved mainstream success, The Zeros built a strong following through their live performances and were a significant influence on subsequent punk and post-punk bands in the North East of England. The band dissolved in the early 1980s. While their recorded output is relatively limited, their contribution to the early British punk movement is recognized by music historians and punk enthusiasts.
