Islands (Kajagoogoo album)
Islands is the second studio album by the British new wave band Kajagoogoo, released in 1984. It was their first album without lead singer Limahl, who had been fired from the band in 1983. Nick Beggs took over lead vocal duties for this album.
The album's sound diverged from the synth-pop style of their debut, White Feathers, incorporating more influences from funk and rock music. It was produced by Colin Thurston, known for his work with Duran Duran.
Two singles were released from Islands: "Big Pink Triangle" and "The Lion's Mouth (Running Wild)." While "Big Pink Triangle" reached the top 20 in the UK charts, it was less successful than the band's earlier hits. "The Lion's Mouth (Running Wild)" performed even less well.
The album itself was a commercial disappointment compared to White Feathers, failing to achieve the same level of success. Its relative failure contributed to the band's eventual breakup the following year. Despite the lineup change and stylistic shifts, Islands remains a part of Kajagoogoo's discography and a document of their attempt to reinvent themselves.
