USS Dominant (AMc-76)

USS Dominant (AMc-76) was an Accentor-class coastal minesweeper acquired by the U.S. Navy during World War II. Its primary function was to patrol U.S. coastal waters and, when needed, clear harbors of mines.

Dominant was laid down on 15 January 1941 by the Fulton Shipyard, Antioch, California; launched on 22 May 1941; sponsored by Mrs. A. E. Christensen; and placed in service on 21 February 1942.

Following shakedown, USS Dominant operated in the 12th Naval District, patrolling the coast of California and sweeping harbor approaches. This service continued throughout World War II.

After the cessation of hostilities, USS Dominant was placed out of service on 7 December 1945. She was struck from the Navy list on 3 January 1946 and transferred to the Maritime Commission for disposal on 6 August 1946.
