Batya Gur
Batya Gur (Hebrew: בתיה גור; January 20, 1947 – May 19, 2005) was an Israeli crime fiction writer. She is best known for her series of detective novels featuring Michael Ohayon, a complex and intellectual police inspector in Jerusalem.
Gur's novels are characterized by their psychological depth, intricate plots, and exploration of Israeli society, culture, and politics. Ohayon often investigates murders within specific communities, such as psychoanalysts, kibbutz members, or music professors, allowing Gur to delve into the nuances and tensions within these groups.
Gur was born in Tel Aviv. Before becoming a full-time writer, she worked as a literary critic and teacher. Her works have been translated into several languages and have garnered critical acclaim internationally.
