LML Star

The LML Star is a series of scooter models produced by LML (Lohia Machinery Limited), an Indian manufacturer. The LML Star is visually and mechanically based on the classic Vespa PX series scooters originally designed and manufactured by Piaggio of Italy. LML had a long-standing partnership with Piaggio, producing the Vespa under license in India. Following the dissolution of that partnership in the late 1990s, LML continued to produce similar models under their own brand, notably the Star series.

Key characteristics of the LML Star often include a pressed-steel monocoque chassis, a two-stroke or four-stroke engine, and a manual gearbox with handlebar-mounted twist-grip controls. Models have been offered in various engine sizes and with both disc and drum brakes.

The LML Star series gained a following for its retro styling, affordability, and relative ease of maintenance. It was exported to various markets, including Europe and the United States, albeit with varying degrees of success depending on import regulations and consumer demand. Over time, LML introduced variations and updates to the Star, including models equipped with automatic transmissions and electric start.
