Kilkea

Kilkea is a village and civil parish in County Kildare, Ireland. It is situated approximately 5 kilometers south of Castledermot. The name "Kilkea" is derived from the Irish Cill Chae, meaning "Cae's church."

Kilkea is primarily known for Kilkea Castle, a historic castle dating back to the 12th century. The castle and its estate have a long and varied history, having been owned by the FitzGerald family, Earls of Kildare, for centuries. It has undergone numerous renovations and served different purposes throughout its history, including use as a residence and a hotel.
