Hiroshi Kawaguchi (actor)
Hiroshi Kawaguchi (川口 浩, Kawaguchi Hiroshi, May 17, 1936 – November 17, 1987) was a Japanese actor. He was known for his leading roles in films produced by Nikkatsu Corporation, particularly in action and adventure genres.
Born in Tokyo, Kawaguchi was the son of the prominent novelist Matsutarō Kawaguchi. He joined Nikkatsu in 1956 and quickly rose to fame, becoming a popular star during the company's golden age. Some of his notable film appearances include I Am Waiting (1957), The Perfect Game (1958), and various installments of the Wataridori (Rambling Guitarist) series starring Akira Kobayashi.
Beyond his action roles, Kawaguchi also starred in dramas and historical films. In the later part of his career, he transitioned to television, hosting adventure and exploration programs focusing on remote regions and wildlife. He died of liver cancer at the age of 51. His son, Yoshihiro Kawaguchi, is also an actor.
