Nic Dowd
Nic Dowd (born May 27, 1990) is an American professional ice hockey player currently playing for the Washington Capitals in the National Hockey League (NHL). Dowd plays center.
Born in Huntsville, Alabama, he played college hockey at St. Cloud State University before being drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in the seventh round (198th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
Dowd spent several seasons within the Kings organization, primarily with their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Manchester Monarchs, before making his NHL debut with the Kings in 2015.
He was later traded to the Vancouver Canucks in 2018. After a brief stint with the Canucks, Dowd was traded to the Washington Capitals during the 2018-19 season, where he has since become a valuable bottom-six forward. He is known for his faceoff ability, physicality, and defensive responsibility.
Dowd signed a contract extension with the Capitals in 2021.
