Christopher Morgan (bishop)
Christopher Morgan (born 15 March 1947) is a retired Anglican bishop. He served as the Bishop of Colchester in the Church of England from 2001 to 2013.
Born in 1947, Morgan was educated at Magdalen College School, Oxford, and St John's College, Durham. He trained for ordination at Cranmer Hall, Durham. He was ordained a deacon in 1972 and a priest in 1973.
His early ministry was spent in the Diocese of St Albans, where he served as a curate at St Mary's, Hitchin, from 1972 to 1976, and as Vicar of St Paul's, Bedford, from 1976 to 1982. He then became the Rural Dean of Bedford.
In 1987, Morgan moved to the Diocese of Oxford, where he served as Vicar of Thame until 1993. He subsequently became Archdeacon of Buckingham from 1993 until his consecration as Bishop of Colchester.
Morgan was consecrated as Bishop of Colchester on 25 January 2001. As Bishop of Colchester, he served as a suffragan bishop in the Diocese of Chelmsford, responsible for the Colchester episcopal area. He retired in March 2013.
Since retirement, he has held Permission to Officiate in the Diocese of Oxford.
