Satyagraha (film)
Satyagraha is a 2013 Indian Hindi-language political drama film directed by Prakash Jha. The film features an ensemble cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor, Arjun Rampal, Manoj Bajpayee, and Amrita Rao.
The film is loosely based on the 2011 Indian anti-corruption movement led by Anna Hazare, and explores themes of social injustice, corruption, and the power of non-violent resistance. The story revolves around a widower and retired schoolteacher, Dwarka Anand (Amitabh Bachchan), who seeks justice for a personal tragedy and becomes a symbol of hope for the common people. He is joined by Manav Raghvendra (Ajay Devgn), a young entrepreneur who believes in systemic change, and Yasmin Ahmed (Kareena Kapoor), a journalist who covers the movement. The film depicts the rise of a mass movement against corruption and the government's response to it.
Satyagraha was released on August 30, 2013, and received mixed reviews from critics. While some praised the film's social message and performances, others criticized its screenplay and execution. The film performed moderately well at the box office. The music was composed by Salim–Sulaiman.
