NGC 397

NGC 397 is a lenticular galaxy located in the constellation Pisces. It is estimated to be approximately 225 million light-years from Earth and is part of the Arp 91 interacting galaxy pair, along with NGC 399. NGC 397 is fainter and smaller than its companion galaxy. The interaction between the two galaxies may be responsible for some distortion in the shape of both. It was discovered on October 7, 1874, by Lawrence Parsons.
