Zhu Muzhi

Zhu Muzhi (朱穆之; 1916 – 2015) was a Chinese politician and diplomat. He served as the Director of the Xinhua News Agency, the propaganda organ of the Chinese Communist Party, from 1977 to 1982. He also held the position of Minister of Culture from 1982 to 1986.

Zhu Muzhi was born in Jiangyin, Jiangsu Province. He joined the Communist Party of China in 1938. Throughout his career, he played a significant role in shaping China's cultural policies and public image, both domestically and internationally. He was involved in the promotion of socialist ideology and the dissemination of information aligned with the party line.

After his tenure as Minister of Culture, Zhu remained active in political life, serving in various advisory roles and participating in cultural and academic initiatives. He was known for his contributions to the study and development of socialist culture with Chinese characteristics.
