Central District (Damavand County)

The Central District of Damavand County (Persian: بخش مرکزی شهرستان دماوند) is a district (bakhsh) in Tehran Province, Iran. Its administrative center is the city of Damavand. At the 2006 census, its population was 69,829, in 19,427 families. The Central District has two cities: Damavand and Kilan. It also contains two rural districts (dehestan): Abrisham Rural District and Jamabrud Rural District. The district encompasses a significant portion of the mountainous terrain surrounding the city of Damavand and plays a vital role in the region's agricultural activities. Its proximity to Tehran contributes to its economic and demographic growth.
