Mark Burton (filmmaker)
Mark Burton is a British screenwriter, film director, and producer primarily known for his work in animation and family films.
Burton began his career in television, writing for shows such as The Comic Strip Presents.... He gained prominence as a screenwriter, contributing to successful animated features including Chicken Run (2000), for which he received a BAFTA nomination, and Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (2005), for which he won a BAFTA award and was nominated for an Academy Award.
His directorial debut came with Gnomeo & Juliet (2011), a Shakespearean adaptation featuring garden gnomes. He also co-directed Shaun the Sheep Movie (2015), which garnered critical acclaim and Academy Award nomination for Best Animated Feature.
