Marinci (supporter group)
The Marinci (pronounced [maˈriːntsi]) are the organized supporters of the Croatian football club HNK Cibalia Vinkovci. They are considered one of the oldest organized supporter groups in Croatia, having been officially founded in 1982.
The name Marinci translates to "Marines" in Croatian. The origins of the name are debated, but it is commonly believed to be derived from the military atmosphere and strong spirit of unity within the group during its formative years.
Marinci are known for their passionate support of Cibalia, both at home matches held at the Stadion HNK Cibalia and at away games. They are recognizable by their blue and white colors, which are the club colors of Cibalia. Typical displays include choreography, banners, flags, and vocal support throughout the matches.
Over the years, Marinci have been involved in various charitable activities within the Vinkovci community, demonstrating their commitment to more than just football support. They have also faced periods of inactivity and internal divisions, common occurrences amongst supporter groups. Despite these challenges, the Marinci continue to represent a significant aspect of the football culture in Vinkovci.
