Gun (band)

Gun are a Scottish hard rock band formed in Glasgow in 1987. The band's original lineup consisted of brothers Dante Gizzi (bass) and Giuliano "Jools" Gizzi (guitar), along with vocalist Mark Rankin, drummer Scott Shields, and guitarist Alan Thornton.

Gun achieved mainstream success with their second album, Gallus, released in 1992, which featured the hit single "Word Up!" (a cover of the Cameo song). Other notable songs include "Better Days" and "Steal Your Fire." The band toured extensively, supporting acts such as Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, and the Rolling Stones.

Several lineup changes occurred throughout Gun's history. Mark Rankin left the band in 1997 and was replaced by Dante Gizzi on vocals. Scott Shields was replaced by various drummers including Stuart Kerr and eventually Paul McManus. Alan Thornton also departed early in their career.

The band went on hiatus in 1997 before reforming in 2008. Since their reformation, they have released several albums, including Breaking the Silence (2010), Frantic (2015) and Favourite Pleasures (2017). Dante and Jools Gizzi have remained consistent members throughout the band's different incarnations. Gun continues to tour and record, remaining a significant presence in the Scottish rock scene.
