Hagneck
Hagneck is a municipality in the Seeland administrative district in the canton of Bern, Switzerland. It is situated on the eastern shore of Lake Biel (Bielersee).
The village is known for its location at the entrance to the Hagneck Canal, which diverts water from the Aare River into Lake Biel. This canal, completed in the late 19th century as part of the Jura water correction project, was designed to regulate the water level of the lakes in the region and prevent flooding. Hagneck is thus geographically significant for its role in managing the water flow of the Aare and its impact on the surrounding landscape.
The local economy of Hagneck is primarily based on agriculture, tourism, and small businesses. The presence of Lake Biel offers opportunities for water sports and recreation, attracting visitors to the area.
