Sail Mhòr

Sail Mhòr is a mountain in the Northwest Highlands of Scotland. It is located in Wester Ross, north of Gairloch. Its name is Gaelic, meaning "Big Heel," referring to its distinctive shape when viewed from certain angles. Sail Mhòr is typically climbed in conjunction with its neighbour, A' Mhaighdean, and is considered one of the most remote and challenging Munros (Scottish mountains over 3,000 feet). The ascent usually involves a long hike in, often from Poolewe or Kinlochewe, followed by a steep climb. The terrain is rocky and exposed, requiring experience in hill walking and navigation. The summit offers extensive views of the surrounding landscape, including other notable mountains and the coastline. Sail Mhòr is part of the Fisherfield Forest, a vast and wild area known for its remoteness and rugged beauty.
