Kolar Dam

Kolar Dam is an earth-fill and gravity dam on the Kolar River near Lawakhairi village in the Raisen district of Madhya Pradesh, India. The dam primarily provides irrigation and drinking water to the Bhopal and Raisen districts.

The construction of the dam was completed in 1989. The Kolar River is a tributary of the Narmada River. The reservoir created by the dam is referred to as the Kolar Reservoir and is a significant water source for the region.

The dam and reservoir are also a popular spot for recreational activities, including fishing and boating. The surrounding area is relatively undeveloped, offering a more natural and tranquil environment compared to more urbanized water reservoirs.

The Kolar Irrigation Project, centered around the Kolar Dam, has played a crucial role in enhancing agricultural productivity in the command area.
