Knight Rider (2008 film)
Knight Rider is a television film that served as a backdoor pilot for the 2008 Knight Rider television series, a continuation of the original 1982-1986 Knight Rider series. The film aired on NBC on February 17, 2008.
The plot centers around Mike Tracer (later renamed Mike Knight), the estranged son of Michael Knight, the original Knight Rider. He is recruited by a government agency and Sarah Graiman, the daughter of the original KITT's creator Charles Graiman, to operate the new KITT (Knight Industries Three Thousand), a technologically advanced Ford Mustang Shelby GT500KR. Together, they must stop a group of mercenaries who threaten national security by stealing the designs for KITT's microchips.
The film stars Justin Bruening as Mike Knight, Deanna Russo as Sarah Graiman, Val Kilmer as the voice of KITT, and Bruce Davison as Charles Graiman. Sydney Tamiia Poitier plays Carrie Rivai, an FBI agent assisting in the mission.
The 2008 Knight Rider film received mixed reviews. While some praised the action sequences and the new KITT, others criticized the script and the acting. Despite the mixed reception, the film led to the creation of a short-lived Knight Rider television series, which premiered in September 2008 but was cancelled after one season due to low ratings.
