Passau (electoral district)
The Passau electoral district (German: Wahlkreis Passau) is a single-member constituency in Bavaria, Germany. It is designated as constituency number 229.
The district covers the area of the city of Passau, the districts of Freyung-Grafenau and Passau, and the municipalities of Aicha vorm Wald, Beutelsbach, Fürstenzell, Haarbach, Hofkirchen, Künzing, Osterhofen, Rathmannsdorf, Sandbach, Vilshofen an der Donau, and Winzer from the Deggendorf district.
Historically, the Passau electoral district has been a stronghold of the Christian Social Union in Bavaria (CSU). The CSU has consistently won the direct mandate in the district in every federal election since its creation. The dominant political landscape reflects the traditionally conservative nature of the region. The representative elected directly from this district represents the citizens' interests in the German Bundestag.
