Trauma Center (TV series)
Trauma Center is an American medical drama television series that aired for one season on CBS in the fall of 1983. The series focused on the emergency room staff of a large urban hospital, exploring the challenges and high-pressure situations they faced while treating patients.
The show was created by Don Brinkley and starred James Naughton as Dr. McQuade, a dedicated but sometimes unconventional trauma surgeon. The ensemble cast included other doctors, nurses, and paramedics, each with their own personal and professional struggles.
Trauma Center distinguished itself from other medical dramas of the time by focusing more intensely on the immediate aftermath of accidents and injuries, highlighting the fast-paced and critical decision-making required in emergency medicine. The series aimed to depict the realities of working in a busy trauma center, showcasing both the successes and failures of the medical staff.
Despite featuring realistic medical scenarios and a strong cast, Trauma Center suffered from low ratings and was cancelled after only 13 episodes. It has since faded into relative obscurity, rarely seen in syndication or available on streaming platforms.
