David Sharpe (football chairman)

David Sharpe is a British businessman and football executive best known for his role as the former chairman of Wigan Athletic Football Club.

Sharpe became chairman of Wigan Athletic in March 2015, following the takeover of the club by his grandfather, Dave Whelan. He oversaw the club's promotion to the Championship in the 2015–16 season and subsequent relegation. During his tenure, the club also faced financial challenges.

In November 2018, Sharpe stepped down as chairman of Wigan Athletic. His departure marked the end of the Whelan family's ownership of the club, which was subsequently sold to International Entertainment Corporation. After leaving Wigan Athletic, Sharpe has been involved in other business ventures.
