Viktor Yanukovych (politician, born 1981)

Viktor Viktorovych Yanukovych (Ukrainian: Віктор Вікторович Янукович; born 15 July 1981) is a Ukrainian politician and businessman. He is the younger son of Viktor Fedorovych Yanukovych, the former President of Ukraine.

Yanukovych served as a People's Deputy of Ukraine in the Verkhovna Rada (Ukraine's parliament) from 2006 to 2014, representing the Party of Regions. He was a member of the Committee on Transport and Communications.

While in parliament, Yanukovych was known for his pro-Russian stance and support of his father's policies. He was sanctioned by the European Union in 2014 following the Euromaidan Revolution and the subsequent annexation of Crimea by Russia and the war in Donbas.

Following the 2014 Ukrainian Revolution, Viktor Yanukovych Jr. reportedly lived in Russia. He was widely reported to have died in March 2015 in a drowning accident on Lake Baikal in Russia; however, this information remains contested and is not definitively confirmed. Some reports suggest he may be living under an assumed identity.
